WE MADE IT....

Funny how having 5 kids age 2 and under changes your perspective on so many things. I, in so many ways, am a long range thinker. I'm usually the type of person who is already thinking today about the appointments, to do lists, etc for next week. But this whole experience has taught me one thing...don't get too far ahead of yourself. Tackle life one day at a time. It's honestly the only way to stay sane and positive in the midst of this craziness we call life these days. It's actually been quite hard for me to accept this (I still have a little of the long range planner in my blood - old habits die hard!) but since February of last year when we found out about the quads, I've learned to try and set short term goals for myself and our family in everything we do so that when we succeed in meeting that goal, it encourages us to push forward and makes even the toughest challenges seem possible. When late October rolled around, I knew the winter was going to be tough.....AND IT WAS. Cold northeastern winters can be miserable and dangerous - especially when you're 4 babies born 3 months early. I swear the walls of this house were beginning to cave in on me! But just when the walls were just about the fall down....SPRING ARRIVED! SPRING, GLORIOUS SPRING! The birds are singing, the air smells sweet and my babies don't have to be dressed up like mummies just to run from the house to the van! I'm so thrilled I can barely stand it! Last week, we finally took the babies out in the quad stroller for it's maiden voyage. Here's just a few pictures from our outting....

John and Claire...

Elizabeth and Kate...

Here's a few of the pictures we had taken by Natalie at Portraits by Natalie (http://www.portraitsbynatalie.com/) in January. I'm so happy to have had these taken so that I can have this time in their lives captured. Check out some of Natalie's beautiful work...

Well folks, I'm one tired mama so it's off to dreamland for me! Take care everyone.........HAPPY SPRING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on Spring!

Ahhhh...what an awesome weekend it was weather wise here in Pittsburgh! Saturday was absolutely great.....mild weather in the 60's with a sprinkle of sunshine here and there. Just what we've been waiting for! John and I decided to let the quads go sans clothes for the afternoon and we took a few pics. The one above is one of my favorites. From L to R: John, Claire, Elizabeth and Kate.

The kids are all doing great. Kate is doing a million times better and almost completely back to normal following her recent hospital stay with Bronchiolitis. She is almost back off of the oxygen again and looking GREAT! We need to figure out how to post videos on this blog because she has become the most ridiculous giggle monkey I have ever seen! Her laugh is so funny...because of her poor lungs she sounds like a 20 year chain smoker when she giggles. It is absolutely hysterical! Elizabeth has two teeth in the past week! She has been uncharacteristically cranky later and we suspected that something was up. Sure enough, she cut her two front bottom teeth last week within a few days of each other! She looks so CUTE! Claire is now officially the biggest baby on the block at a whopping 16 pounds! She is so incredibly solid and her beautiful blonde hair is really starting to come in. She is so sweet and pleasant these days...she's really starting to mature. John is so amazing developmentally. He not only rolls from his belly to his back but is now starting to roll from his back to his belly also. He is very alert and eats like a champ! He puts down a 7 oz. bottle every 4 hours and is always looking for more. The developmentalist, Jarrett, who comes to work with the kids each week is amazed at their progress. They aren't only progressing...their thriving and surpassing expectations for 26 weekers!

Luke is so thrilled to see Spring coming! He's just itching to get outside and ride his quad and play on the swings! He's had a rough winter with colds, cabin fever, etc. so I can't wait to get him out in the fresh air. He and Daddy are starting their parent and tot swim lessons this Sat. He loves the water so we'll see how it goes! His vocabulary blows me away and I just can't believe that my little boy is growing up so fast. As with any normal two year old, his new favorite word is NO. I'm trying to showing his the positive benefits of saying YES, but he isn't buying it :)

All in all, life is good!

Here's a few more pics we've taken recently but just haven't had time to post...

Claire Renee enjoying some oatmeal.....(not really, she actually hates it! :)

John Quentin enjoying some oatmeal....(he actually DOES love it! Can't get enough! :)

Elizabeth Avery also hates oatmeal but LOVES John's hand!

Feeding time in the Bumbo chairs...

We love toys!

Big Bro Luke likes the Bumbo chairs too :)

Elizabeth... hiding those two new shiny toofers...

Daddy with Claire and Elizabeth in their stylish new hats! I bought these hats for the photo sessions with Natalie. Aren't they just to die for!

Lady Kate in her lovely hat...

A picture of my big boy John in his cool baseball cap I bought him for the photo session. I actually bought the same one for Luke so they match! You probably can't tell, but the hat has a picture of a yellow lab (just like Sampson!) sitting in a wagon on it. Too cute!!!

Luke and Lizzie...

The gang...

Luke's first time playing in the snow...

Luke THOROUGHLY enjoying his PB&J .....
